StarSQL for Java
Fast, reliable data access for the enterprise

StarSQL for Java, Version 2.3 is the latest release of StarQuest Ventures' Type 4 JDBC driver (Direct-to-Database Pure Java) implementation, providing fast, direct access to IBM DB2 relational databases from any Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) compliant application.

Version 2.3 features comprehensive support for Version 3.0 of the JDBC standard - including J2EE support, LOB (large object) data, encrypted password support, connection pooling, and Two-Phase Commit (2PC) JTA-type transactions.

The product implements native DRDA protocol over direct TCP-IP connections to the entire range of IBM DB2 platforms - without requiring any host software and runs on any platform supporting the Java Runtime Environment (JRE), v1.3.1 and higher.

The product features an extremely small footprint making it an appropriate choice for Client and Server applications such as IBM WebSphere and BEA WebLogic, as well as a flexible licensing model based upon concurrent connection usage - the most economical way to deploy the software throughout the Enterprise.

StarSQL for Java runs on the desktop, with no host software or proprietary gateways required, and works with existing TCP/IP connections to the host database.

StarSQL for Java uses the TCP/IP protocol to communicate either directly to DB2 host systems that implement DRDA over TCP/IP (e.g. DB2 for OS/390 v5.1 & later, OS/400 v4r2 & later, DB2 UDB for Windows, OS/2 & UNIX v5.1 & later) or to any DB2 system through a StarPipes gateway.

When SNA connectivity is required, the StarPipes package may be used, providing SNA access to the host to TCP/IP enabled clients.

StarSQL for Java leverages existing hardware and network connections throughout your organization, without changes or upgrades.

StarSQL for Java offers performance, ease of use and reliability at a great value.
