StarLicense System Requirements

StarQuest products can be licensed by one of the following methods:

  • Using a StarLicense server. This involves installing a StarLicense server on one or more servers, and configuring all clients to connect to the server. Management tools are provided for configuring and monitoring the license server.

  • Installing a local license on each workstation (workstation licensing)

The StarLicense Server is supported on the following platforms:

  • Windows 2000
  • Windows XP
  • Windows Server 2003
  • Windows Vista
  • Windows Server 2008

For UNIX, the StarLicense Server is supported on:

  • AIX 4.3.3 or later
  • Solaris 8 or later (SPARC)
  • Red Hat Linux 9 or later (i386)
  • HP-UX 11.11 or later (PA-RISC)
  • FreeBSD 6.1 or later (i386)

Local client (workstation) licensing and client-server licensing are supported on the above platforms. Client-server licensing requires TCP/IP connectivity between the client and the server. The default port is 4999.

For StarSQL for Java, local client workstation licensing is supported for all of the above platforms. Client-server licensing is supported for all Java-enabled platforms, including the above plus MacOS X, OS/400, and z/OS.
