Abstract

If the password for the SQL Server Administrator (sa) login changes, you may receive the following error message when launching the Data Replicator Manager:

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'sa'

Solution

Configure the Data Replicator service to use the new system administrator (sa) password.

  1. Launch the Data Replicator Configuration from the StarQuest Data Replicator program group.
  2. In the first pane of the Wizard, select the SQL Server data source and enter the "sa" login with the new password.
  3. In the second pane of the Wizard, select the option "Use an existing control database and tables." Select the control database from the drop down list and enter the database owner (e.g. dbo).
  4. Complete the remainder of the Wizard panes as desired and verify that the Replicator Manager launches successfully.

For any SQL Server sources or destinations that require the "sa" login, be sure to update the corresponding Data Replicator Manager source or  destination properties with the new password.
