This article answers frequently asked questions (FAQs) about using StarSQL logins.
How can I automate my StarSQL data source
login?
How can I prevent the User ID from appearing in
the StarSQL connection dialog?
How can I encrypt the User ID and Password (StarSQL 5.3x or later)?
You can automate StarSQL logins so that the user does not have to enter in a User ID and Password when making a connection. Please see StarQuest Technical Document, How to Automate StarSQL Logins for detailed instructions.
In the Expert Page of the StarSQL data source configuration, change the CacheUID parameter value to No.
The default for this value is Yes.
In the Security/Accounting page of the StarSQL data source configuration, check the Enable User ID/Password Encryption box and select the appropriate radio button. If you are unsure whether or not your DB2 supports encryption, consult your DBA. For more information, refer to the Configuring Security and Accounting topic in the StarSQL help.
