StarLicense System Requirements

StarQuest products can be licensed by one of the following methods:

  • Using a StarLicense server. This involves installing a StarLicense server on one or more servers, and configuring all clients to connect to the server. Management tools are provided for configuring and monitoring the license server.
  • Installing a local license on each workstation (workstation licensing)

The StarLicense Server is supported on the following Windows platforms:

    • Windows Server 2008R2, 2012, 2012R2, 2016, 2019
    • Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10

For UNIX, the StarLicense Server is supported on:

  • AIX 5.3 or later
  • Solaris 10 or later (SPARC or x86)
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 or later (i386 or x64)
  • SUSE Enterprise Linux 10 or later (i386 or x64)
  • Fedora and OpenSUSE (i386 or x64)
  • Ubuntu Linux (i386 or x64)
  • HP-UX 11.11 or later (PA-RISC)
  • FreeBSD 7.1 or later (i386)

Local client (workstation) licensing and client-server licensing are supported on the above platforms. Client-server licensing requires TCP/IP connectivity between the client and the server. The default port is 4999.

For StarSQL for Java, local client workstation licensing is supported for all of the above platforms. Client-server licensing is supported for all Java-enabled platforms, including the above plus MacOS X, IBM i, and z/OS.
